Department of Academic Planning - Welcome
The history of the Academic Planning Department in National Open University of Nigeria dates back to the inception of the University when it became imperative that as the university grows, academic activities of the university especially in areas of establishment of academic centres, academic programmes and courses, diligent process must be established so as to sustain academic quality. As a prelude, the NOUN ‘Blueprint’ as approved by the federal government provided the platform for the future development of all activities in the university.
Thus in 2007, the then Vice Chancellor initiated the commencement of the DAP by the appointment of a Consultant on Academic Planning to the Vice Chancellor in the person of Prof I.F Adu, a former Vice Chancellor and who amongst other assignments, was to midwife the establishment of the Directorate of Academic Planning.
In 2010, Professor Olufemi Peters, a former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) in the university was appointed as the first substantive Director of the Directorate of Academic Planning.
Prof. Nebath Tanglan took over the mantle of leadership as the current Director of Academic Planning by Monday 1st August, 2016 till date. The Director of Academic Planning is directly responsible to the Vice Chancellor to the day to day administration of the unit.
The Directorate is expected to collate and manage data that will guide the academic development of university and to ensure compliance with NUC’s Minimum Academic Standards and the University’s Senate Academic Requirements.
