E-Learning (NOUN iLearn)
1. Please explain what NOUN I-LEARN is.
NOUN I-LEARN is the new e-learning portal of the National Open University of Nigeria. It is specially designed to make your learning exciting and well rounded. Through NOUN I-LEARN, you can interact with lecturers, ask question and get answers, meet and discuss with other students, download course materials and increase your network.
2. How do I login to my account?
Go to the login page (www.nounilearn.edu.ng). If you are logging in for the first time, click the “First Time User” bar on the login page. Create your profile by entering your matriculation number. Return to login page and sign in with your matric number or email address and enter your password.
3. I can’t log in.
This could result from issues ranging from poor internet connection, or you’re yet to create your profile before attempting to log in, or wrong log in information. Check to confirm you do not have problems with these possible reasons. If you still can’t log in, contact support. (support@nounI-LEARN.com, 0700 NOUN I-LEARN).
4. How do I edit my profile?
To edit your profile, click on the “Edit profile” button on the home page (dash board) and edit as you please. You can also edit your profile by clicking on your name at the top right hand corner of the homepage (dash board) A drop down list will appear showing “My Profile, Account Settings and Log Out”. Click on “My Profile” to edit. Please note that you cannot edit your name, matriculation number or email address on NOUN I-LEARN. If you need to edit any of these for any reason, go to your registration portal on www.noun.edu.ng, and it will take effect on the ILEARN portal.
5. Can I edit my phone number?
Yes. Click on your name at the top right hand corner of the homepage (dash board). A drop down list will appear showing “My Profile, Account Settings and Log Out”. Click on “Account Settings”. You’ll be taken to a “General Account Settings” page where you’ll find three icons: “General, Privacy and Mobile & Notification”. Click on “Mobile & Notification” to edit your phone number. You may also edit your notification status.
6. How do I change my picture?
To change picture, click on the “Change Avatar” button on the home page (dash board), upload a new picture and save. Note that you can edit your picture from a mobile device as well.
7. How do I create a “to-do” list?
Click on the “Home” button on the site navigation menu, click on the “My dashboard” link and scroll down to the bottom of the dashboard. Click on the pencil icon to create a new “to-do” list.
8. How do I find my facilitators?
Click on “My Networks”. Click on “Facilitators”.
9. How do I participate in a Class Discussion?
Class discussions are platforms to interact with your facilitator and other students. They (are only initiated by facilitators) are usually started by facilitators and they are time bound. To participate, click on “My Courses” on the site navigation menu at the left of your page and select a course. You will be taken to the content tab on that course. Select the “Class Discussion” tab and select a discussion from the discussion list. You can view past discussions and make comments on active discussions (an active discussion has a green button in front of it) Alternatively, you will see the tool bar “key deadlines” on your dashboard, which shows a list of class discussions going on in your courses, you could click on the desired class discussion and participate.
10. How do I participate in the Course Forum?
Course forums are platforms to share knowledge with other students on topics that relate to a particular course. To participate in a forum, click “My Courses” and view. Select a particular course. Click on “Course Forum”. Click on existing topics to participate in a forum. You can also proactively create a new topic. Alternatively, you will see the tool bar “recent activity” on your dashboard, which shows a list of course forums created by you, your fellow course mates or facilitators, you could then click on the desired course forum and participate.
11. How does “Ask a Question” work?
“Ask a Question” is a functionality that enables you ask your facilitators questions that relate to your course. Other students can also provide you answers. To use this feature, click on the “Ask a Question” tab on the site navigation menu and choose a course. A list of all previously asked questions on that course will be displayed. You can click on any of the questions to give your own answer. To ask your own question, click on the “New Question” button at the top of the list of previously asked questions. You will be taken to a “New Question” page. Give a title to your question, describe your question and click the “Create” button. Your question will appear on the list of previously asked questions and will be visible to your lecturer and other students. Alternatively, you will see the tool bar “recent activity” on your dashboard, which shows a list of previously asked questions by you or your fellow course mates, you could click on the desired questions and give your answers or ask your questions too.
12. How do I take a self-assessment test?
Go to “My Courses” click “view” and select a course. Click on the “view all” link in front of “Practice Test”. Click on “Take self-assessment”.
13. What will I find in the “My News” section?
“My News” section is for updates, general announcements and information on how to make the most of NOUN I-LEARN. It is important you look at the section regularly to keep yourself informed.
14. What are the “Intro Videos”?
The Intro Videos are short introduction videos uploaded to show you how to use the various functionalities of NOUN I-LEARN. To watch the videos, click on the “Home” button on the site navigation menu, click on “Intro Videos”, and scroll down to select any introduction video you wish to watch.
15. How do I view/download the videos, audios and smart books?
To view your videos, click on “My Courses” on the navigation menu. Click “view”. A list of your registered courses will be displayed. Click on a course of choice, all the resources available will be displayed. To view all videos available for a course, click on the “View All” link in front of “Course Videos”. Click on a video of choice to view. To download, click the download button beneath each chosen video. You can also view specific videos under each module by scrolling down to each module and clicking “videos”. This same process applies to smart books and audio.
16. How do I create a note?
Click on “My Courses”. Click on “view”. Click on the “Read” link in front of “Smart books”. Select a portion of the book on which you wish to make a note. A tab will show with three options “Highlight; Get Definition; Create Note”. Choose “Create note”, create your note and save.
17. How do I create a study group?
After a successful login, click on menu at the left top corner of your page. Navigate to My network, and then click on Study Group under My network, Click on ‘Create study group’ Fill the form that follows accordingly and type in names of group members in the appropriate box, wait for the search to be completed, then select the desired name. Click on submit to create the group.
18. How do I share a note?
To share a note, go to the smart book and click on the portion from which you had earlier created the note. Click “Share” to friends or to groups. Note: you can only share notes with friends or groups you belong to.
19. How do I delete a note?
To delete a note, you also follow the same process as in sharing a note.
20. How do I submit my assignment?
Click on “My Courses” and view. Click on the particular course. Click on the “View all” link in front of “Assignments”. Type in or attach your assignment.
21. How do I find a person that isn’t currently in my friend list?
You can find a new user to add as friend by typing in the person’s name in the search bar at the top of the “Classmates” or “My Study Center” page.
22. How do I find my course mates?
Click on “My Network”. Click on “Classmates”.
You’ll find as many of your course mates who have registered. You can also sort by study centers.
23. How do I find other students from my study centers?
Click on “My Network”. Click on “Study Centers”. A list of registered students in your study centers will be displayed.
24. How do I send messages on the platform?
Click on “My Messages”. Click on “Compose”. Select the friend you wish to send a message to. Click on “New Message”, type in your message and send.
25. Can I view results on NOUN I-LEARN?
Results are uploaded on Student portal. Please log on to www.noun.edu.ng; your student portal to view your results
26. How can I add new courses to my profile?
To add a new course, go to your registration portal on www.noun.edu.ng and register the course. The course will then automatically appear on your NOUN I-LEARN profile. If you still don’t find the course on NOUN I-LEARN, refresh your browser.
27. How can I update my level on the portal?
Update your level on the registration portal on www.noun.edu.ng. The update will automatically reflect on NOUN I-LEARN. Alternatively, on your dashboard, you will see an option “synchronize profile with portal profile”, your courses will be automatically updated
28. How do I download the mobile App?
Download the mobile apps on the respective app stores. Go to the app store of choice and search for “NOUN ILEARN” or “NOUN I-LEARN 2 Go”. Available apps include Blackberry (OS 10 and above), Android, J2ME.
29. How do I log out?
Click on your name at the top right corner of the home page. Click on logout.
