5 credits in not more than two sittings in WASC/SSCE/NECO for 100 levels; ‘A’ level GCE/HND for 200 levels; OND with upper credits/NCE for 200 levels; OND with lower credits are admitted for 100 levels.

 
B.Sc. (Ed) BIOLOGY

5 credits at O’L (GCE or SSCE), English, Mathematics and other relevant subjects and other qualification approved by the university.

 
B.Sc. (Ed) CHEMISTRY.

A candidate must have either at G.C.E. ‘O’ Level SSCE/NECO, or NABTEB a minimum of five credit passes in chemistry, mathematics and any other 3 sciences with at least a pass in English, in not more than 2 sittings.

Teachers’ Grade II certificate with a minimum of five merits in chemistry including mathematics, and at least a pass in English.

A candidate entering at 200 level with N.C.E. results must have a minimum of a merit in chemistry and passes in other major subjects offered at N.C.E. level. In addition he must have credit in two subjects including mathematics if it is not one of the teaching subjects; A pass in G.C.E., S.S.C.E./N.E.C.O., or in N.C.E. General English is acceptable for this category of students.

B.Sc. (Ed) COMPUTER SCIENCE.

5 credits passes at the SSCE/NECO/NABTEB, English Language in NOT more than two sittings. The credits passes must include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other Sciences/Social Science Subjects.

Those to be admitted into 200 level must have three (3) N.C.E. Subjects with a minimum of merit pass in the teaching subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Computer Science) and at least 2 passes in two other subjects including English Language.

Holders of Grade II Teachers’ certificate who meet up with the requirements stated in (i) above will be admitted.

Applicants who are deficient in any of the subjects specified in (i) above will be admitted into the Access Programme of the University.

B.Sc. (Ed) INTEGRATED SCIENCE.

WASC/SSCE/NECO, 5 credits for 100 levels in not more than two sittings. OND with upper credits/NCE for 200 levels.

OND with lower credits are admitted for 100 levels.

B.Sc. (Ed) MATHEMATICS.

5 credit passes in GCE O’ level or SSCE/NECO/NABTEB in NOT more than two sittings. The subjects should be relevant to programme.

Teachers’ Grade II Certificate with minimum of five (5) merits in subjects relevant to the programme.

 
B.Sc. (Ed) PHYSICS.

5 credits passes in SSCE/NECO/NABTEB including English Language in NOT more than two sittings. The credit passes must include physics, chemistry and mathematics and any other science subject.

Those to be admitted into 200 level must have three NCE subjects with a minimum of merit pass in the teaching subject and pass in two other subjects as well as two credit passes in SSCE/NECO/NABTEB or NCE. General English is acceptable for this category of candidates.

Applicants who are deficient in any of the subjects specified in (i) above will be admitted to remediate the subject(s) by taking the NOUN Access programme.

B.A. EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

5 credits passes in SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB O’ level in NOT more than two sittings in relevant subjects including English Language. A pass in Mathematics is required.

Teachers’ Grade II Certificate with minimum of five merits in relevant subjects, including English Language. A pass in Mathematics is required.

Applicants entering at 200 level must possess NCE or its equivalent.

Any other qualification as approved by the University.

B.A. (EDUCATION) ENGLISH

Candidates entering at 100 level should have credits in English Language and Literature in English and credits in three other subjects relevant to English Language at SSCE/GCE obtained at not more than two sittings. Relevant subjects should include: History, Government, a Nigerian Language, CRK/IRK and French.

Teachers Grade II Certificate with a minimum of five merits. Two of the merits should be in English language and Literature in English. The remaining merits should be from the list of relevant subjects listed in (a) above.

Candidates entering at 200 level with NCE certificate should have (i) a minimum of merit in English Language and passes in two other subjects and (2) credits in two relevant ‘O’ level subjects inclusive of Literature in English.

 
B.A. (EDUCATION) FRENCH

Five credits in the senior secondary school certificated examination inclusive of French and English (i.e. five SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB ‘O’ level passes in grade 6 and above) obtained in not more than two sittings in subjects relevant to French. A pass in mathematics is required.

Applicants entering at 200 level must pass NCE in a relevant course.

Other qualifications equivalent to those listed above can be accepted.

B.A. PRIMARY EDUCATION.

Five credits in the SSCE/GCE O’ level/NECO, NABTEB passes in grade 6 and above obtained at not more than two sittings in relevant subjects including English Language. A pass in Mathematics is also required.

Teachers’ Grade II Certificate with minimum of five merits in relevant subjects, including English Language. A pass in Mathematics is required.

Applicants entering at 200 level must posses NCE with at least seven points (one merit and two passes) in three subjects including two other credits at the ‘O’ level.

Any other qualifications approved by the University.

B.Sc (ED) BUSINESS EDUCATION

5 credit passes at SSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB at ordinary level (O’L) with credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics plus any other two subjects.

Teachers Grade II certificate with a minimum of five merits in the relevant subjects.

Holders of NCE and OND or any other advanced qualification recognized by the Senate of NOUN would be considered for 200 levels.

       
       

POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION

A graduate from a recognized University, with at least a Second Class Lower Division.

A holder of a minimum of lower credit in the Higher National Diploma form a recognized Institution may also be admitted.

A person with qualifications adjudged by NOUN to be equivalent to (i) and (ii) above. Such a candidate will need to have his/her work place experience and skills already acquired to be evaluated to by NOUN for their suitability.

 
       
       
M. ED EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION AND PLANNING 4401

For admission to the programme candidates should posses a first degree from a recognized university with a minimum of second-class lower division, in addition to the matriculation requirement. A candidate with a good postgraduate diploma from a recognized university may also be admitted to the Masters Degree programme provided the University matriculation requirement is met. Any other qualification as approved by the University.

 
M. ED SCIENCE EDUCATION 4402

A good honour degree in Science Education of any University recognized by the Senate of NOUN.

A good honour degree in any of the science subjects plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or NCE.

Any other qualifications which NOUN may deem suitable.

 
M. ED EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY 4403

A good honours’s degree in Education of any University recognized by the Senate of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

A good degree of any University recognized by NOUN plus a Postgraduate Diploma Certificate in Education (PGDE) or NCE.

Any other qualification considered suitable by the Senate of NOUN.

 
M. ED OPEN & DISTANCE EDUCATION (ODL) 4404

A holder of a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with at least a second – class lower division.

A holder of Post-graduate Diploma Certificate in Distance and Open Learning Education from a recognized institution.

 
M. ED MATHEMATICS EDUCATION 4405

Graduate of mathematics – education [B. Sc (Ed)] from National Open University of Nigeria (in future) or any other University approved by NOUN.

Holders of first degree in mathematics with a diploma in Education or an NCE qualification.

Third class degree in Education that have worked for not less than five years.
