The management of Enugu Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has held a virtual and physical orientation exercise for its returning as well as new students to acquaint them of the new policies in the university.

The centre director, Prof. Alexander Uche Onyia, said the orientation exercise, which was held on Friday, 25 September, 2021 aimed at acquainting the old students of the new policies guiding examination as well as topical issues relating to the institution's development and growth.

On the part of new students, Onyia stated that the exercise was an avenue to sensitise them about the modus operandi of the university as an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) driven with technology, stressing that students being computer compliance will enhance their academic performance.

the director, a professor of Vocational Education, pointed out that studying at NOUN is loaded with benefits in terms of convenience, flexibility, cost-effectiveness among others, even as he implored students to give their study the serious attention it deserves.

"There are eight desk officers at the centre representing the eight faculties of the institution, and students should, as a matter of necessity, seek information about their academic pursuits from them to avoid being misled or misinformed by the third party outside there," Onyia said.

While cautioning the learners to avoid vices capable of tarnishing the hard earned image of the university, he emphatically said the institution's management would not hesitate to deal with the culprits.

Also speaking, an Administrative Officer II, Michael Onoja, elaborated on the admission requirements and processes of course registration to the admiration of the students.

He acknowledged the availability of highly trained personnel who are experienced and vast in admission and registration issues at the centre and cautioned students on the impending dangers of patronising 419 cyber-cafe operators.

Earlier, the Librarian II, Mrs. Grace Elem, had emphasised that library is the lifewire of any institution, adding that no meaningful academic performance would be attained without the use of library.

She encouraged students to imbibe the culture of using both physical and e-library to enhance their academic excellence.

The students took turns to ask questions on grey areas while the management provided satisfactory responses at the event that recorded an impressive turnout.
