LMSC virtual interaction

A virtual training and interactive section for students was held by the management of Lagos Mainland 1 Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

The programme commenced with the centre’s ICT staff, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Eke anchoring the session with a brief introductory message to the students.

Centre Director, Prof. Ofe Inua, in her welcome address, familiarised the new students with NOUN as an ODL institution in West Africa and the largest in Nigeria and also informed them about learning techniques in the university.

Inua added that the students should always relate to the study centre and its activities, urging them to make use of the online support and different platforms where they can get connected with their learning colleagues.

The Director therefore listed platforms such as Faculty WhatsApp group, made up of Desk Officer and Co-students, Counselling Telegram platforms, ICT Support, Store and Bursary Support, among others.

She also informed students of the provision of liaison offices.

“The two Liaison Offices in the Mainland, Digital Bridge at Oshodi and NRDEC at Ikeja are supplementary offices where the students can also visit due to movement difficulties, distances and transportation challenges. The offices are meant to cater for students who live around the area,” she said.

The programme featured topics such as Non-examinable Courses in NOUN, Effective Study Habits among Distance Learners, What is SIWES?, Student Portal issues, and others which were handled by the centre Desk Officers.
