Ado Ekiti

The Director, Ado-Ekiti Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Adejoro Mustapha and his team have taken the centre’s advocacy campaign to the Nigeria Correctional Service in the state.

The state’s comptroller, Mr. Ojo Joseph Olu, alongside other officers of the service, welcomed the visiting NOUN team on 23 September, 2021 at their office.

Speaking about the purpose of the visit, Adejoro said the centre was out to sensitise and promote the mode of operations and the academic programmes currently being offered by the university.

He explained the benefits prospective students stand to gain, which include the flexibility of study time and sessions, cost effectiveness in terms of fees, use of modern day learning tools and many others that will aid them in their academic pursuit.

The director urged the officers to make use of the opportunity NOUN provides and enrol, even as he also enjoined them to encourage the inmates to do so in order to give themselves competitive advantage both in their jobs and the outside world.

In his response, Ojo thanked the NOUN advocacy team for the visit, assuring them that his team will not hesitate to tap in to the huge resources the university offers to better themselves as it will also help in their careers as servicemen.

The comptroller solicited for the establishment of a special study center within their facility to enable the officers and the inmates enrol for different programmes in NOUN.

At the end of the visit, souvenirs were presented by the director to his host, and appreciated them for the warmth reception.

Adejoro was accompanied by the Students' Counsellor of the centre, Dr. E. O. Bamidele, Senior Assistant Registrar, Mrs. S. O. Eneh, Senior Database Administrative Officer, Mr. O. Oloyede and other members of staff.
