NOUN present as Mrs. Onyehalu’s husband is buried

The body of Late Professor Anthony Sunday Onyehalu, has been laid to rest in his  country home, Nkpokolo Achi, Oji River Local Government Area, Enugu State.

Vice – Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Olufemi Peters, was represented by the DVC (Academic), Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma.

Late Onyehalu was the husband of the Opi Community Study Centre director, Mrs. Maria Theresa Onyehalu.

He was a distinguished Professor of Educational Psychology and former dean of Faculty of Education, Enugu State University of Science & Technology, ESUT.

Onyehalu retired in 2018 after his meritorious service and until his death in May 16th, 2022, he was on a contract teaching appointment in the Psychology unit of the Department of Educational Foundation, ESUT.

His socio – cultural participation earned him a titled chief in his community as “Nnanyelugo 1 of Achi”.

However, testimonies about him revealed that he was a philanthropist par excellence as he had already sponsored over six students in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Others attested that Onyehalu was God fearing, disciplined, mentor, time conscious, caring to mention but a few.

The calibre of dignitaries present to give him the last respect included the former director, RETRIDOL, Prof. & Mrs. Patrick E. Eya, all South – east Centre directors,  ESUT Community, the Igwe Felix Chima Achiekwelu of Nkpokolo and his cabinet members, staff & students of NOUN among others.
