Freshmen at Benin Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Benin, Edo State, were jubilant and visibly elated as they took their matriculation oaths to get formally inducted into the university on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023, at the centre, for the 2023 academic session.
The ceremony which was witnessed virtually at the centre had in attendance the new acting centre director, Dr. Akeem Disu, members of staff of the centre, as well as newly admitted students with their friends and well wishers.
The vice-chancellor, Prof. Femi Peters, during his matriculation address, welcomed the students to the university.
Peters emphasised that NOUN seeks to uphold its motto which forms a critical element in Open and Distance (ODL) Learning.
He reminded that the study centres exist to provide and render utmost service to the students at all times.
The chief executive officer of the West Africa’s foremost ODL university, therefore, advised the matriculating students to be responsible and dedicated as the institution strives to make their experience a worthy one.
It was indeed a wonderful experience as the newly admitted students took their oaths and were officially inducted into the institution.
As the Matriculation Ceremony came to a close, the students exited the auditorium to have fun and make merry with their friends and families.
