The Association of African Universities (AAU) has presented the immediate-past Pro-chancellor and Chairman Governing Council, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Emeritus Prof. Peter Okebukola, with an Award of Excellence for his service to quality higher education delivery in West Africa.
The ceremony, which took place at the Windhoek Country Club and Resort Conference Centre, Namibia, was organised by the association as part of its activities marking the Conference of Rectors, Vice-Chancellors and Presidents of African Universities, tagged REViP2023.
Okebukola was specifically singled out by the AAU and honoured as its “Higher Education Ambassador for West Africa” for his shining, exemplary and innovative role played towards the delivery of quality higher education in West Africa.
Namibia’s Minister of Higher Education, Innovation and Technology, Hon. Dr. Itah-Kandji Murangi, declared open conference in the country’s capital city.
With the theme: “Advancing Excellence in African Higher Education,” the conference has in attendance a high-powered team from NOUN, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Isaac Buswat.
Other members of the team are the Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Prof. Ahmed Njiddah with the Centre Director, Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL), Prof. Grace Jokthan, providing the support structure holding team NOUN in sharing this great feat.
