Acting Director of the Gulak Community Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Mrs. Margaret Yamtu, has expressed her profound gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Adamawa State University (ADSU), Dr. Stephen A. Lagu, for releasing parts of the university’s facilities to serve the study centre.
The gesture followed a renovation work at the Mubi North Local Government secretariat where the study centre is formally situated.
The director made the remark in the course of a thank-you visit which she paid to the Vice-Chancellor on Monday, February 12, 2024, at the university in Mubi town, Adamawa State.
Some of the facilities to henceforth be used by the study centre include staff offices, course materials stores, e-library, auditorium, e-exams halls, among others.
The director extolled the manifest leadership abilities of the Vice-Chancellor as well as his disposition as a person while praying for a harmonious working environment with the university.
Yamtu assured the VC that the relationship between the two universities will continue to prosper while showcasing the new and the advance courses offered by NOUN.
The information from the director elicited a promise from the elated Vice-Chancellor, who said he would patronise the study centre.
It could be recalled that Gulak Community Study Centre was destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents in 2014, which necessitated the relocation of the centre to Mubi town for the continuation of academic activities.
The director said effort is under-way to reach out to the state government to reconstruct the study centre at Gulak since normalcy has returned to the region.
The management of the study centre also paid a congratulatory visit to one of the centre’s facilitators: Dr. Sulaiman Yakubu, who was recently appointed as the Provost of College of Health Technology, Mubi, Adamawa state.
Yakubu equally promised to extend the messages of NOUN to his students and lecturers.
