The Management of Awgu Community Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has taken series of advocacy campaigns to the Rosary High Secondary School, Alfa Secondary School and Urban Secondary School all within Awgu Community in Enugu, Enugu State.

The advocacy team, led by the Acting Centre Director, Dr. Rosemary Ijeoma Nwofor and was accompanied by staff of the centre.

Nwofor said “the exercise was part of the centre’s deliberate and continued efforts at catching them young in schools and to attract teachers for enrollment at the centre.”

The director, who holds a PhD in Guidance and Counselling, took time to demonstrate her expertise by counselling and enlightening them on why their choices to enroll at NOUN should be most preferred and best option for them.

She also sensitised the audience about the operations and activities of the university, pinpointing the benefits of studying in the institution, particularly its convenience, affordability, cost-effectiveness, among others.

“You don’t have any reason whatsoever to entertain fear or doubt about the authenticity, genuineness and acceptance of the academic programmes in NOUN. Over the years, the institution has entrenched as an undeniable solid base for quality education. As an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution, driven by media technology, all its academic programmes have been accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC),” she said.

NwoforNwofor counselled them to avail themselves of the opportunity NOUN is offering to acquire higher education as well as to upgrade themselves academically.

Rev. Sister Maryansell Ihejiene, the Principal of Rosary High Secondary School, in her response, commended the centre for the visit and promised to encourage both students and teachers to enroll at NOUN.

Similarly, Mr. Sunny Chuks and Mr. Abba Nebo, the Principals of Alfa Secondary School and Urban Secondary School, respectively, corroborated with Rev. Sister Ihejiene’s view point about the visit.
