The Policy Advocacy and Integrity Network Nigeria (PAINN) and the Centre for Transparency Watch (CTW) have commended the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) for its transparent bids opening processes on TETFund-financed projects for the university.
The PAINN Executive Director, Mr. Joshua Foluwasayo Mesele and the representative of CTW, Mr. Emmanuel Ayuk, who served as the external observers, gave this commendation on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 during the bids opening exercise at the university’s headquarters, Jabi, Abuja.
In his opening remark, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Technology, Innovation and Research (DVC-TIR), Prof. Monioluwa Olaniyi, while assuring the bidders of transparency, fairness and openness in the exercise, added that the technical stage of the bid has been handled.
On his part, the Acting Head, Directorate of Procurement, in his opening address, Mr. Kazeem Onubaiye, promised the bidders openness and transparency in the whole exercise, saying that “Open University is where things are done openly.”
No fewer than 18 companies submitted bids to construct Academic Staff Building, Auditorium Building, External Works at study centres, and provision of Power Infrastructure at the NOUN headquarters.
