The Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Olufemi Peters, has enjoined the Committee of Directors of Academic Planning of Nigerian Universities (CODAPNU) to join hands with other relevant stakeholders in order to bring about effective service delivery.
Peters stated this on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 as CODAPNU paid him a courtesy visit at the university headquarters, Jabi, Abuja.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Isaac S. Butswat, Peters said “because of the importance of the Directorate of Academic Planning (DAP), I urge you to take your job seriously, cooperate and work closely with the head of your institutions.
“In the university system, DAP has to work closely with the Vice-Chancellor, faculties, departments, other directorates, institute and regulatory body like the National Universities Commission (NUC) to ensure successful resource verification for the establishment of new programmes and obtaining full accreditation for such programmes.”
While thanking CODAPNU for the visit, the VC requested his guests to urge their staff to enroll in NOUN “to take advantage of the mode of delivery of our courses which Open and Distance Learning (ODL) to learn and acquire more knowledge and skills in order to be more efficient and effective on the job.
“In NOUN, our students learn at their pace, anywhere and at anytime. One can work and learn as a student of NOUN.”
Earlier in her address, the Chairperson of CODAPNU, Prof. Bolanle A. Akinwande, said the executives of CODAPNU have come to express their profound gratitude to the VC and the university management for their kind gesture by providing a befitting Secretariat for CODAPNU at the Jabi’s headquarters of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
“We are eternally grateful for this historical support. It means so much for all of us. You gave us sense of belonging. You gave us a place we call our own. We are sincerely grateful,” Akinwande said.
Meanwhile, in his vote of thanks, the Director of Academic Planning, Prof. Godwin Aper, thanked the VC NOUN for his magnanimity.
He also thanked his colleagues for the thank-you visit to NOUN.
