Welcome Message from Director
The Directorate of Works & Services was born out of the growth of NOUN which has been in geometric progression, and the increasing need to keep up pace with maintenance of physical infrastructure and equipment. The split of Directorate of Physical Development, Works & Services (DPDW&S) into Directorate of Physical Planning & Development (DPD) and Directorate of Works & Services (D,W&S) was recommended by the Presidential Visitation Panel to the University in 2021.
The Directorate is headed by Arc. Enyinnaya Akueshi as pioneer Director in acting capacity. Directorate of Works & Services was established on the 24th of September, 2024 with the mandate to oversee the maintenance, renovation and servicing of the university’s physical infrastructure.
The directorate is committed to providing a safe, efficient, and conducive learning environment to support the university’s academic excellence and research endeavors. Its vision is to become a model for best practices in facilities management, while its mission is to deliver exceptional and prompt services that meet the evolving needs of the university community in an open and distant learning environment.

Some Key Responsibilities
The Directorate is responsible for:
• Developing and implementing strategies for facilities maintenance and servicing.
• Maintenance of the university’s physical assets, including buildings, roads and utilities.
• Providing maintenance and repair services for facilities and equipment
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery for both academic and non-academic activities.
• Renovations / Upgrades of facilities
• Sustainability Initiatives: Energy Efficiency, Waste Management and Emergency response
• Excellent Service Delivery: Providing excellent services, responding promptly to requests and concerns from various offices, and faculties for the maximum comfort of staff and students.
The Directorate is committed to providing a safe, efficient, and conducive milieu for working and learning.
The Directorate’s staffing, numbering 93, comprises of registered (licensed) professionals, skilled technicians, craftsmen, artisans and other unskilled staff including temporary staff.
The above are distributed in different disciplines, viz: Architects, Civil Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Quantity Surveyors and Estate Surveyors and Valuers, etc.
Other staff of the directorate include artisans in various disciplines: Plumbing, Carpentry, Electrical, Gardening, Air Conditioning and Plant Operation.
