Dr. Jeremiah J. O. OBERA attended Ammeh Commercial College, Etutekpe-Okpo, Olamaboro LGA, Kogi State with a sound accounting background. He holds National Diploma (ND) Accounting from Benue State Polytechnic (Benpoly), Ugbokolo; Higher National Diploma (HND) Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic, Idah (FPI); and B.A. (Hons) Accounting with Finance from the University of Abertay- Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom (UK).
He was at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) for his MBA degree and was thereafter offered admission to read MSc/Ph.D Accounting at Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Abakaliki. After the course work, Dr. OBERA was accepted into full time Ph.D accounting programme at the same University. He, however, accepted another offer to read Ph.D Accounting and Business Finance at the University of Dundee, Scotland, UK.
He was conferred with Ph.D Accounting and Business Finance with specialisation in Corporate Governance and Ethics (Critical Accounting) from the University of Dundee, Scotland, UK after he had successfully completed the Ph.D programme.
Dr. OBERA, a British trained critical accounting philosopher, hails from Igah-Ocheba. He attended the Nigerian College of Accountancy (the training arm of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria {ANAN}) Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria.
He is a Fellow Certified National Accountant (FCNA). He has worked in accounts department of Kogi State Hospitals Management Board and in the Bursary department of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja before going into full time lecturing at the polytechnic.
He had before then lectured IJMB students at Osara campus of Kogi State Polytechnic. He was a facilitator to National Open University of Nigeria and examiner to NECO.
He was a principal lecturer in accounting department of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja before transferring his services to the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in 2017.
