The newly appointed Director, Isanlu Community Study Centre for the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, Agba-east Local Government Area, Kogi State, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence F. Fatimayin , has appealed for supports from the people of the community for the success of the centre.
She said this as part of activities marking the formal commencement of the centre, when she paid courtesy visits to both the Palace of the Traditional Council under the leadership of HRH Oba Moses Babatunde Etombi and the local government chairman, HON. AbdulRasak A. Ijagbemi, respectively.
According to her, the newly-established will need their contributions, sound advice, suggestions, prayers and to stand by her so as to take the centre to a level above their dreams.
“Once again, I thank you all and I am glad to know that in anything that matters I can always count on each and everyone of you,’’ she said.
The director urged them to engage in aggressive advocacy as a new centre, saying that it was important to reach out to the nooks and crannies of the community with a view to getting getting students, as a centre without students will amount to an excise in futility.
Fatimayin encouraged them to reach out to people both in houses, markets places, education offices and anywhere that can fetch them students, sating that “NOUN is a life-long learning institution, no age barrier, no distance barrier and it very flexible where you can study at your own pace.”
Soon after her assumption of office on August 23, 2022, the director was led to the centre and taken round by the IPU Excos and some dignitaries, where she expressed satisfaction with what she saw, even as she encouraged the community to do more in terms of advocacy.
