In its drive towards achieving higher enrolment rate at the centre, the Isua-Akoko Community Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has undertaken series of advocacy activities to various organisations within its environs.
One of such organisations visited was the Isua High School located at the heart of the town of Isua-Akoko Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The acting director of the centre,Dr. Ayodeji Muideen Badmus, who led the team of staff, expressed his appreciation and said the team was at the school to woo a large number of teachers, urging the principal and his staff to further their careers by enrolling in NOUN.
Badmus, who explained the benefits of enrolling into NOUN, its vision, credibility, and the advantages it has over conventional institutions, reaffirmed the mandate of the institution in taking education to the doorsteps of every organisation.
He said the university is a federal government-approved institution and is at par with any other university in the country, adding that all its programmes have been fully and duly accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and operate its programmes on a full-time basis.
Speaking on vocational training in computer literacy, the director said the centre was also open to students who are preparing for the West African Examination Council (WAEC), Computer-Based Testing (CBT) examinations, pointing out that the return of the gesture will encourage both staff and students to enroll at the centre.
The director and his team later held an interactive session with the staff of the school where they explained the criteria for securing admission into the institution, courses, admission processes, mode of payment, registration, mode of instructional delivery, and online facilitation, among others.
In his response, the principal of the school, Mr. Bernard Awe, who welcomed the team, expressed his appreciation for the sensitisation visit and awareness about NOUN and promised to advocate for the university to attract more enrollment to the centre.
The team also visited the Military Base and Divisional Police Station of the community and was received by Commandant, B. G. Ajayi and Divisional Police Officer Mr. Gbenga Oladele, respectively.
The director also extended similar messages to the military officers in their organizations and urged them to take advantage of the various programmes offered by NOUN to upgrade themselves since learning is a life-long exercise.
The commandant and DPO equally appreciated the director for the visit and urged their officers to take advantage of NOUN to enroll and further their education.
