A 4-man delegation of the National Universities Commission (NUC), headed by Prof. Ali Audu Sani of the University of Maiduguri, has on Monday, 28th November, 2022 visited Enugu Study Centre, Enugu State for the accreditation exercise.
The NUC team was taken round to inspect and assess the facilities on ground at the centre by the centre’s senior staff and the Awgu Community Study Centre’s director, Dr. Oforbuike Nwachukwu.
Sani, accompanied by Prof. Mobolanle Ebunoluwa Sotunsa, Babcock University, Prof. E. J. Umana, University of Calabar, and Mr Olujimi Anogbile, a representative of the NUC, said the visit was to accredit Environmental Health Science(EHS) programmes, Faculty of Health Sciences, National Open University of Nigeria(NOUN).
He expressed satisfaction that the accreditation of EHS programmes at the centre falls within or fulfilled the NUC benchmark academic standard.
Sani, while commending the university’s management for adequate and well – equipped EHS laboratory, also acknowledged the functionality of e – library cum the currencies of books on EHS at the physical library.
The NUC team leader also reeled out among others some items that are in dire needs for provisions at the centre, such as fans at the auditorium, erection of overhead water tank and repair of the auditorium’s roofs which was blown off by the rainfall.
The Head of Department (HOD), Faculty of Health Sciences, Dr Oluremi Saliu, was visibly present in ensuing that the accreditation exercise sails through, even as she provided answers to questions that was put across her by the NUC team.
The representatives of the Directorate of Academic Planning of NOUN were SAR, Mrs Adenike Odunukan and Mr Kamaldeen Lawal Maccido, while Abraham Yakubu, represented Environmental Health Science.
