As part of its statutory responsibility of resource verification and promoting quality assurance, a delegation of National Universities Commission (NUC), led by Prof. Valentine Ekechukwu, has visited Isulo Community Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria(NOUN), Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The team was taken round for inspection and assessment of facilities at the centre by the director, Dr. Bibian Ugoala alongside some of her staff.
Ekechukwu, accompanied by Mrs. Rita Kenny-Ugwu and Mr Matthew Esene,
commended the quality of facilities and stated that their mission was to ensure improvements at the centre.
According to him, there was need for the provision of laboratory facility at the centre to encourage students’ hands-on practicals and to relieve them of some encumbrances of traveling to Enugu Study Centre for the exercise.
Responding, Ugoala expressed her happiness about the visit and registered the university management’s commitment to implement the team’s observation.
On his part, the President-General, Isulo Community Development Union, Hon. Samuel Oguagbaka, described the exercise as a welcome development and applauded the team for ensuring that the centre joins the league of global best practices of quality education.
High calibre personalities from the community were on ground to receive the visiting NUC team. They include the Chairman, Education Actualisation Committee in Isulo, Prof. Gershon Ejeckam, a lecturer at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze, Dr. Emma Achumie and the representative of the Traditional Ruler, lgwe Felix Maduka.
