The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), has on Wednesday, March, 2022, paid a courtesy visit to the management of National Open university of Nigeria (NOUN), Azare Community Study Centre, Bauchi state.
The 5-man delegation led by the PCRC Vice Chairman, Azare Division, Malam Hassan Saleh Ismail, said the visit was to seek for a partnership and collaboration with the university to intensify advocacy and sensitisation meetings aimed at enlightening community folks on their place and role in community policing.
Saleh said the partnership was one of such efforts of the PCRC to ensure synergy between the Police and the community in protecting lives and properties.
He said PCRC is playing a pivotal role in assisting the police with vital intelligence, which helped greatly in fostering police, community relations in the fight against crime.
The vice chairman said the increased rate of crime in the country is of concern and all hands must be on deck to tackle it.
In his response, the centre director Mr. Bulama Mshelia, appreciated the Police Community Relation Committee for the visit, noting that the gesture has confirmed the fact that they are serious in ensuring the protection of lives and properties of the community.
Mshelia who agreed to partner with PCRC in sensitising and enlightening the public on the flight against crimes, commended the committee’s leadership for the initiative and assured them that their impact on creating awareness about the duties of the PCRC will be felt.
PCRC is a community policing based organisation established by the Nigeria Police Force in 1984 and it’s meant to ensure partnership between the Police and the community with a view to enhancing efficient and effective policing of communities in Nigeria.
