The Vice-Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Olufemi Peters, has called on the university’s Multi-purpose Co-operative Society (NMCS) to be transparent in managing peoples’ resources.
He stated this while playing host to NMCS executives in his office on Friday, February 25, 2022.
The VC described the cooperative as a useful tool for some staff to own properties, while thanking them for the visit.
Peters told the executives that he is a member of the society by choice because he made a point that whatever the staff is going through he should also experience it to enable him make informed decision about what they are going through.
He acknowledged how NMCS has helped so many people in acquiring properties.
The VC then advised the executives to be transparent and sincere in all their dealings, programmes or projects they put ahead for the members, while urging them to manage people’s money well.
On his part, the leader of the delegation and the president of the society, Mr. Lazarus Bala Sabo, said the aim of the visit was to seek the VC’s support and update him on the plans they have for the cooperators.
Sabo also said the visit was to request the Vice-Chancellor for a mini shop where cooperators will buy things on credit, cash or short time loan.
