The Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Olufemi Peters, has inspected the upgraded technology system of the Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL).
The state-of-the art digital equipment installed at the ACETEL’s laboratories were also extended to the seven (7) faculties of the university, including newly installed smart television set and other ICT gadgets.
The installation is required to enhance participation and integration in the Nigerian Research and Education Network (NgREN).
Consequently, the Vice Chancellor alongside the Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) Technology, Innovation and Research (TIR), Prof. Monioluwa Olaniyi, toured ACETEL and inspected the new installations.
Peters, led by the ACETEL director, Prof. Grace Jokthan, inspected the new equipment centre’s conference room, Artificial Intelligence lab, Cybersecurity lab, MIS lab, as well as switching and routing devices at the server room.
Other places visited by the VC were the switching and routing devices at the Directorate of ICT, ACETEL CISCO switching and routing lab, DLCMS, one (1) gigabyte internet facility, electronic library resources.
Other installations inspected were: 86 inches smart television for the seven (7) faculties, including the Chemistry Department Lab, the ACETEL Conference Room and the Directorate of Learning Content Management System (DLCMS).
The Vice-Chancellor later expressed satisfaction over the ACETEL’s installations, saying that these new installations will take ACETEL and NOUN to a higher level of academic achievement.
Prof. Christine Ofulue, Prof. Juliet Inegbedion, Prof. Johnson Opateye, Associate Prof. Juliana Ndunagu, Associate Prof. Greg Onwodi, flanked the VC during the inspection.
