The Directorate of Staff Training and Development (NOUN), in collaboration with Sages and Scribes Consultants, has organised a training workshop for a selected number of senior staff of the university.

The training, which held at the NOUN Abuja Model Study Centre, was aimed at helping the participants navigate through the realities of the present-day generation of students; known as the “Gen Z.”

With the theme:“Personal Mastery & Life Management,”the 3-day training also harped on the importance of learning new methods of communication in order to make their work more effective.

Present at the opening ceremony to declare the workshop open was the Vice-Chancellor NOUN, Prof. Olufemi Peters, who admonished the senior staff to be open towards undergoing a different kind of training from the ones they have been used to.

He stated that when the proposal came for the training, he willingly approved it because he had heard a lot about the facilitators and how current they are in executing their workshops.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasised on the importance of familiarising with the current trends of things especially with the emergence of social media and the internet and how relevant it is to the present-day system of education.

The Director, Staff Training and Development, Mrs. Margaret Borro,  assured the participants that they were going to be experiencing a different kind of training which would impact their lives both personally and professionally.

The Head Facilitator, Sages and Scribes Consultants, Adelowo Adesina, who commenced the training by singing nursery rhymes as a way to break the ice, stated that for anyone to move forward with the right way of thinking, it was important to remember where life begun as a human being.

He asked the participants to ask themselves who they were asides their positions and ranks.

Adesina advised them to ask themselves about their character strengths and weaknesses and about their flaws.

He stated that he was doing this as a form of reflection in order for them to be more open to receiving the information he was going to disseminate.

The training was attended by Deans of the various faculties, Directors of different departments and Deputy Registrars of the university.
