President of the Lagos State Chapter, Law Students Association, (LAWSA), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Comrade Onadeko Damilola Edward, has expressed his profound gratitude to the Vice-chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters for the total support and cooperation during the 2022 International Grand Law Dinner.

The dinner witnessed the presence of the foremost lawyer and human rights activist, Femi Falana and other notable legal luminaries, was held on Friday, February 18 2022, at the Lagoon Restaurant events hall, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Comrade Edward in an exclusive interview with NOUN News, also thanked the Dean, Faculty of Law of the university, Dr. Ernest Ugbejeh for his support towards the success of the event.

With the theme, “Advancing The Rule of Law in Africa, The way Forward,” the lecture was delivered by the Guest Speaker, Prof. Raymond Atuguba, who is Dean, School of Law, University of Ghana.

The president, while dissecting the lecture, reiterated that it’s high time the rule of law truly started taking its course, not just in Nigeria but every part of Africa.

He said time is ripe for people to start doing things the way they ought to be done, as no man or team should go against the law and still escape being punished, a development that is becoming the order of the day in the continent.

Edward, however, challenged every NOUN law student to go beyond being ceremonial legal practitioner, even as he revelled at the fact that NOUN law graduates are now being accepted into the Nigerian Law School.

NOUN News also spoke with a fresh law graduate of the university, Nneoma Nwaobasi, who expressed happiness at the development that has seen the university’s graduates now get call-up letters into the Law School.

It would be recalled that in 2021, the university’s law graduates received official call-up letters for admission into the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja.

The headway prompted the university to issue a memo requesting all law graduates from 2014 to 2019 sessions, numbering 1,876, to submit a fresh file containing all documents that qualified them for admission into the law programme of the university.
