In an effort to achieve the greatest enrollment rate, the Gulak Community Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has undertaken a series of activities and visitations to various organisations within its sphere of influence.
One of such organisations the centre visited was the Vimtim Primary Health Care Centre, located in the outskirts of Mubi North Local Government Area of the state.
Acting director of the centre, Mrs. Margaret Yamtu, while addressing the staff of the Health Centre, said medical field is an indispensable element of society and that it cannot be ignored because of the essential roles it plays in saving the lives of humanity.
Yamtu explained that NOUN offers various courses and programmes relevant to the medical profession and cited the BNSc Nursing, Public Health and Environmental Health Sciences programmes as some of them.
The acting director, who described the profession as highly respected, harped on the flexibility nature of NOUN in catering to the needs of staff of such profession, adding that the system does not take off staff from his/her duty.
Yamtu then encouraged the staff of the center to enroll in NOUN to further their academic qualifications, as the 2022_1 academic session of the university has began.
The Chief Nursing Officer of the Primary Health Centre, Mrs. Magdalene Stephen, on her part, expressed her satisfaction with the mode of operation of NOUN, adding that the system has given hope to many who give up hope of higher degree certificates.
She enjoined staff to take the advantage of the relevant medical-based courses of the university to upgrade their potentials in medical line
The advocacy drive also took the team to the palace of His Royal Highness, Emir of Gella, Alh. Sani Bello, who advised the management of the study centre to increase the level of awareness of its operation as activities of the centre are yet to reach the majority of his people.
Lagu expressed his elation at the visit and promised to cement the relationship between NOUN and Adamawa State University.
