The management of Cottage of Hope(COH), Empowerment and Rehabilitation Centre, has donated stationary to the Kirikiri Special Study Centre at Maximum-security Custodian Correctional Centre in Lagos.
The event held on Friday, March 11, 2022 saw the donation of four cartons containing 20 realms of A4 paper and two jars of toners presented to the special study centre.
According to a member of trustees, Sabine Bond who presented the donation stated that “we believe that education is one of the most effective means of rehabilitating prisoners.
“It is noteworthy to mention that this initiative is a collaborative effort between COH and the former inmates who are students and doing well in their endeavours.
”This confirms our belief that education serves as the foundation for rehabilitation and reformation.”
Mr. Akuboye Benson, who seconded her also declared that “it is worthy to mention that two-thirds of the donation were supplied by some ex-students of NOUN Special Study Centre at Maximum Custodian Centre Kirikiri who are now performing well in their endeavours.
“This is a way of giving back to NOUN and to serve as a motivation for current students of the university.”
Responding, coordinator of the NOUN Correctional Custodial Study Centre, Mr. Agboola Sunday, on behalf of Mushin Study Centre director, Dr. Mrs. Yemisi Ogunlela, thanked the team for their support and encouragement and promised to keep the management aware of the gesture.
