The Coordinator, Kano Conference Marking Centre, and the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Moses Etila Shuaibu, has on Saturday, May 21, 2022 briefed subject officers and markers ahead of the commencement of the just concluded 2022_1 Pen-on-Paper marking exercise in Kano.
Speaking at the briefing exercise, the coordinator extended the felicitation of the NOUN Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olufemi Peters to the subject officers as well the markers for their sacrifices towards making the university great.
He urged the markers to continue exhibiting their good gestures as the university is doing its best to ensure things are better off in a short while.
He called on the participants to work as a team so as to display the spirit of unity, which will lead to achieving the desired success of the exercise.
Shuaibu assured that all efforts were put in place to ensure successful exercise, saying that all things being equal the exercise will be completed within the scheduled time-frame.
A total number of 28, 422 scripts, including 35 late registrations scripts were received from 13 study centres of the university for marking.
The scripts have since been sorted out and distributed out to the various markers for the commencement of the marking as scheduled, the coordinator said.
He thanked the Kano Study Centre director, Mr. Muddasir Ahmad Ishaq, for his commitment and determination geared towards ensuring the exercise recorded the desired success.
On the other hand, the representative of the Director, Directorate of Examination and Assessment, Mr. Abdulmumin Hassan, also thanked the Kano Centre director for the provision of transport logistics of subject officers and materials.
Hassan stated that the directorate is available to provide support services to the markers, checkers and subject officers by providing all necessary facilities.
He emphasised on the need to be partners and also work as a team.
Dwelling on the scripts inventory management, he sued for absolute concentration so as to avoid complications.
“Markers should be sure of what is contained in the envelop must equate the number of scripts clearly spelled out on the envelope,” said Hassan.
On the issue of examination malpractice, he urged the markers that once any suspicious script dictated they should no hesitate to forward it to relevant authority.
Speaking on behalf of the Directorate of Management Information System, Mrs. Halima Noura Bamalli, promised to show and supply subjects officers with a guide to ease the process.
She drew the attention of the subject officers to be extraordinarily careful when allocating the envelops scripts to the markers.
“On uploading scores,they should try as much as they can in order not to change any file as it was originally uploaded,” said Bamalli.
The Director, Kano Study Centre, Mr. Muddasir Ahmad Ishaq, in his remarks, said the centre had received 28,422 scripts from 13 study centres.
He drew the attention of the authority concerned to give much attention and priority to the original markers and facilitators.
He urged them to come together to work as a family for the success of the exercise and the university.
He assured that a logistics bus has been provided for easy movement of the officers to and from their place of accommodation to the venue of the exercise on a daily basis, until the end of the exercise.
Ishaq also promised to be with the marking team through out their stay at the centre.
