The director, Asaba Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Chibuogwu V. Nnaka, on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, led the advocacy team of her centre on a visit to the Delta State Ministry of Finance at the new Prof. Chike Edozien Secretariat, Asaba.
Nnaka, at the reception of her team, explained that the purpose of the visit was to sensitise the staff of the ministry on the benefits of taking advantage of the presence and programmes of NOUN to update and upgrade themselves academically through the qualitative, accessible and flexible system of tertiary education the university offers.
The centre director, in her presentation, highlighted major aspects of the activities in NOUN, the university’s mission and vision, mode of operation, as well as admission processes.
Other areas Nnaka talked about included NOUN website, duration of courses, available courses and programmes, the location of Asaba Study Centre and the ease of transferring from one study centre to another should need arises.
The permanent secretary of the ministry, Mr. Cornelius Semiteje, who was represented by the assistant director, Administration, expressed delight and appreciation over the visit of the NOUN team to his ministry.
He admonished the staff of the ministry to take full advantage of the opportunity presented by the university to improve on their academic and intellectual status.
Other members of the NOUN team during the visit were Florence Nzekwu, assistant chief confidential secretary, Destiny Izu, administrative officer and Emeka Iyamah, system analyst.
Advocacy flyers were distributed, while top officials of the ministry were also presented with customised advocacy souvenirs at the end of the visit.
