The Asaba Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Asaba, Delta State, on Thursday, October 6, 2022, held students’ forum/orientation for students of the centre.
The director of the centre, Prof. Chibuogwu Nnaka, at the event, which was well attended by freshmen and returning students, welcomed the students and enlightened them on NOUN activities, procedures and available services.
Nnaka emphasised that a major feature of ODL is learner-centredness: students study on their own.
She urged them to manage their time effectively and efficiently since successful studying at NOUN depends largely on the resilience and hard work of individual students.
The centre director reminded the students that, as far as NOUN is concerned, they would not see any lecturer to ‘sort out’ for marks.
She charged them to join online facilitation and do their TMAs to avoid incomplete results.
Nnaka also got the students reminded of the forthcoming examination and urged them to study hard and to avoid all forms of examination malpractice, adding that the penalties for examination misconduct must be born in mind.
Various heads of units – Registry, Account, Counselling and ICT also took turns to enlighten the students on activities of their units.
There was an interactive session during which students’ questions and inquiries were addressed.
NOUN T-Shirts and bags were distributed to students while light refreshment was also given to all present.
