The President, International Bar Association, Stenford Moyo, has strongly commended the National Open University of Nigeria’s Law Students Association, Lagos State Chapter for its intense commitment and interest in international criminal justice.
He said the body has consistently demonstrated that in its actions against impunity in the Nigeria.
Stenford stated this remark at the 2022 Competition Law in Africa Conference, which was held at the Federal Palace Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos between 24 – 25 November, 2022.
This was the trust of his speech soon after being conferred with the Life Grand Patron award by the LAWSA team led by comrade Onadeko Damilola-Edwards, president of the Lagos State chapter.
Comrade Edwards, on behalf of the entire NOUN Law graduates and LAWSA, expressed his gratitude to Stenford, the first person of African descent to lead the IBA in its 74 year existence.
He tagged him a “man of honour, whose seamless coordination and plethora of giant strides has seen the unprecedented success of the International Bar Association.”
He added that it was a rare privilege to be able to present the award on behalf of the team, as they had tried to travel down to Mr Stenford, who assured them of his sooner availability in Nigeria.
Stenford, went on to encourage law students of the university not to relent in their quest for greatness as they are the future of the legal profession.
He added that he is confident the future of business law and criminal justice is in good hands.
The conference, which centered on regulatory developments and enforcement trends across the continent, was jointly presented by the IBA Antitrust Section, IBA African Regional Forum and the Nigerian Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.
