The director explaining a point at one of the visited places

The Management of Awgu Community Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has taken the gospel of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode of instructional delivery to number of government establishments in Olikwu Awgu and its environs, Enugu State.

The places visited were the Federal Road Safety Corps, Police station, School of the Midwifery, Urban Secondary School and Orie Awgu market.

Acting director of the centre, Dr. Rosemary Ijeoma Nwofor, who led the team, accompanied by some centre’s staff, said that the advocacy was part of the its effort towards increasing students enrollment at the centre.

She sensitised the audience about the operations and activities of NOUN as well as highlighted the procedures and requirements for gaining admission into the university.

Nwofor said education is a precious gift which can be attained by anyone who desires knowledge, reiterating that NOUN is a reputable institution where their dreams of becoming graduates can be achieved.

“It is insightful to know that studying at the institution is open to everyone who seeks knowledge, be you a business man or woman, bricklayer, mechanic, welder, tailor and carpenter provided the candidate possesses the requisite requirement for securing admission,” the director said.

While emphasising that age is not a barrier, the acting director added that the flexible nature of NOUN allows students to work and at the same time study from anywhere.

The guidance and counseling guru painstakingly counselled them to embrace the opportunity the university provides by enrolling at the centre.

The duo of DCO of Awgu police station, Francis Okoro and the Head, FRSC, Mr. Iwuchukwu Victor, expressed profound delights over the visit and pledged their commitment towards encouraging their officers to utilise the opportunity NOUN offers to enrol.

Some of the indigenes indicated their interest to enrol, while others throng in towards making enquiries about the university.
