The Dean, Faculty of Law, Dr. Ernest Ogwashi Ugbejeh, has commended markers and subject Officers for their professionalism and conducts in the ongoing 2022-2 POP conference marking exercise.

Ugbejeh, who is the coordinator and overseer for the North-Central zone of the current conference marking exercise, disclosed this during a chat with NOUN News correspondent in Abuja.

The coordinator said that the subjects officers are very cooperative, responsible, diligent and up to the task in terms of working in cordial relationship with the markers and vetting of the scripts for compliance.

The dean, whose duty is to ensure that the exercise is well coordinated according to the rules and regulations guiding the marking of examinations scripts in the National Open University of Nigeria, said he is also representing the Directorate of Exams and Assessments and by extension the university at large.

While emphasising that the university has laid down rules guiding the process of marking scripts, which must strictly adhered to, he added that all markers must have their PhDs and must be affiliated  with a university.

Commending the process, he stated that the marking was progressing smoothly as they have enough markers at the centre, which they are expected to meet up with the date line, and finish on record tine, even as they received close to ( 45,000), forty-five thousand scripts across the designated centres.

‘We have enough hands here, so hopefully we will meet the date line as we are expected to finish on record time, because they are working assiduously, he said.

He noted that NOUN pays the highest per script compared to other institutions, even though markers are complaining about the payments, he suggested that the management can look into the aspect of transportation to consider those markers coming outside Abuja, which is the only area he can recommend.

He however, commended the University for an Improved Process from the examination to script marking which he said has improved significantly and in the case of scripts submission he said NOUN has set the pace for others.
