Career Profile

Johnson Okoh, PhD, is the Head of the Department of Financial Studies (Accounting, Banking, and Finance) at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Abuja.

A seasoned academic and professional, he is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Stock Brokers (ACS), a Certified National Accountant (CNA), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (FCIB), and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Forensics and Certified Fraud Examiners of Nigeria (ACCrFA).

He is also a Member of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TCRN) and a certified expert in Open and Distance Learning (ODL). Before transitioning to academia, Johnson had a stellar career in the Nigerian banking industry, where he rose to the position of Branch Manager, earning multiple awards for service excellence. A prolific scholar with over 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters, his research in Development Finance and Accounting has gained significant recognition, as evidenced by extensive citations on Google Scholar and Scopus.

He has supervised and externally assessed over 15 PhD candidates and 50 MSc candidates in Accounting, Finance, and Business Administration, demonstrating his commitment to mentorship and scholarship. Johnson is a multidisciplinary researcher and a regular participant in academic conferences, both locally and internationally, with a reputation as a team player and a go-getter.

Renowned for his innovative contributions to ODL, he has received several accolades for star performance. Passionate about teaching and learning, Johnson is an avid reader with an unwavering dedication to academic excellence.
