Fugar centre director

The Management of Fugar Community Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Fugar, Edo State, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, held an interactive forum for students of the study centre.

The programme, which was organised at the behest of the new Acting Centre Director, Mr. Kingsley Arogunyo, was meant to provide a familiarisation platform between him and his students as well as serving a general orientation purpose.

Arogunyo, who flagged off the occasion with a deeply touching address on the academic achievements of Fugar Community Study Centre, also used the opportunity to congratulate the centre for producing two First Class students, one of whom emerged as the overall best graduating student at the 13th Convocation Ceremony of the NOUN on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

He, however, sounded a note of caution to the students, saying that the performance of the two First Class students having placed the study centre on the national map, had made it incumbent on students of the centre to conduct themselves responsibly wherever they find themselves and in whatever they do in order to maintain and sustain the good name and image of the study centre.

Arogunyo, in his power point orientation presentation, emphasised admission/graduation processes and requirements.

He sensitised the students on the need to be more circumspect in selecting courses for registration, noting that it was impossible for any student with outstanding compulsory courses to graduate, even when it seems they have earned the required number of credit units.

The Acting Director also enlightened the students on how to study for examination, calculate their Grade Point Average (GPA) and monitor their progress in the course of their study.

FugarHe charged the students to remain focused, resolute and undaunted amidst challenges, assuring them of his availability to help resolve challenges that may arise as a director who is also a Counseling Psychologist by profession.

Mr. Joseph Eneje, the ICT Officer of the centre, who also made a presentation, encouraged the students to take responsibility for their online related activities and be wary of roadside cyber café as some of them were the causes and sources of frustration and failure for many students.

Eneje urged students to feel free to reach out to the study centre for assistance on ICT challenges.

There was opportunity for questions for which satisfactory answers were provided to the delight of participants.
