ACETEL

The Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), have concluded arrangements for the maiden Exhibition and eLearning Conference.

The Director ACETEL, Prof. Grace Jokthan in a statement, said that the event which will hold from Tuesday, October 1 through Friday October 5, 2024, at NOUN Headquarters, Jabi Abuja will provide a vital forum for showcasing educational initiatives, best practices and serves as a catalyst for advancing e-learning across the continent.

She said the conference, which has its theme: ‘’ Harnessing Digital Innovations for Equitable Education and Sustainable Growth in Africa’’, will witness the convergence of stakeholders from academia, industry and governmental organisations as well foster collaboration and knowledge exchange essential for addressing the unique challenges and opportunities facing the Africans education system in this digital age.

The conference will also provide a platform to amplify the voices of African educators and innovators, ensuring that solutions are tailored to the continent’s diverse cultural, social and economic contexts, drive meaningful progress towards enhancing educational access, quality, inclusion and relevance for learners across Africa.

According to Jokthan, the thrust of the workshop is to display the latest eLearning technologies and solutions that enhance educational delivery, accessibility and inclusivity, build partnerships between academia, industries, governmental organisations and non-governmental organisations to leverage technology for education.

Discussions on eLearning policies, ensuring alignment with current technological advancements, educational needs and quality assurance would also be central at the conference even as there’s going to be discussions on sustainability, endowment and sensitization for the centre.

Highlights of sub-themes and hands on sessions, she said, includes; pitch competition /exhibition, displaying of latest eLearning technologies and solutions that enhance educational accessibility, delivery and inclusion, policy dialogue on e-Learning, ensuring alignment with technological advancements and quality assurance, among others.

Target participants include; universities, colleges, and schools interested in upgrading their teaching tools and methodologies,

Industries: corporations and startups developing eLearning solutions or utilising eLearning for training and development,

Public Sector Agencies: Organisations looking to implement eLearning strategies for training and public education purposes,

Governmental Organisations: Bodies interested in promoting digital education and formulating policies that support eLearning initiatives.

Furthermore, keynote speech and lead papers will feature thought leaders and experts in eLearning sharing insights and forecasts for the future of digital education, which will also feature session of panel discussions from experts in academia and industries.

ACETEL is a World Bank project situated in NOUN aimed at enhancing the utilization of technology for learning in the African continent.
