The director explaining a point to some of the prospective students

In an effort towards boosting enrollment of the centre, the Isanlu Community Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Yagba-East Local Government Area, Kogi State, has undertaken a series of advocacy drive to Bagida Local Government Education Office, Mpo market, and sundry other places.

The advocacy led by the centre director, Mrs. V.A Ebute and other staff, took off from the Town Hall where the centre is located at Itedo-Amuro, through Ofin, Bagido and Mopo Local Government Education Office and Mopo Market, where they met people individually and in groups.

The aim was to inform people of the area about the existence of the university in their locality and the many advantages of studying with NOUN, which include its flexibility, affordability, and the fact that it does not embark on strike.

Ebute enumerated the benefits of studying with NOUN, citing the fact that they do not need JAMB to get enrolled, the payment of school fees is also flexible, they don’t need to leave their places of work to enroll and the certificate is recognized all over the world, among others.

The director further drew their attention to the fact that the university takes education to the door steps of Nigerians, because it operates an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode of education, of which it can accommodate a lot of students at once.

These explanations by the director made the people particularly happy especially and excited with the prospect of joining NOUN.

With questions bordering on how they can access their lectures, how to pay school fees, whether the school runs on a part-time basis, whether the school has resolved the poor connectivity issues, among others, the team was able to clarify issues raised and answered to their satisfactions.
